Christmas markets itinerary: Budapest, Vienna and Prague

Visiting Vienna, Prague and Budapest  in December is a wonderful experience for all ages, a chance to indulge in the good old-fashioned Christmas spirit! Wander through Budapest’s largest Christmas Market, explore Christmas Markets of Vienna  and  see majestic Prague at pre Christmas time!

  • Day 1: December 05 - Welcome to Budapest

    Meet and greet at Budapest International Airport and transfer to the hotel in Budapest  City Centre. After check-in, take some time to get settled and relax.

    In the evening enjoy a Welcome Dinner in a traditional Hungarian restaurant. Overnight in hotel in Budapest.

  • Day 2: December 06 - Budapest city tour and Christmas Markets

    After breakfast in the hotel meet with a local guide and start a city tour of Budapest to get acquainted with the Queen of the Danube. The tour includes visits on the Pest side: Heroes Square with Millenary Monument, Vajdahunyad Castle, the Opera House, the St. Stephen Basilica and grandiose Parliament. Along with a great introduction of Budapest’s’ popular landmarks, experience Hungarian Christmas tradition and visit Budapest biggest Christmas Market in heart of the city.

    The rest of the day is at leisure to explore festively decorated Budapest  and the Christmas markets. Beside the usual Christmas Markets delights you can taste traditional Hungarian Christmas dishes , visit the open kitchens and learn some traditional culinary secrets.

  • Day 3 : December 07 - Budapest castle tour and Christmas Market

    After breakfast departure to  Budapest Castle district. Explore  Buda castle with your local guide and enjoy spectacular view from the Fisherman’s Bastion.

    The rest of the day is free to  stroll among Christmas stalls , buy something unique for your loved ones and enjoy some of cultural programs on the outdoor stage .

    Afternoon – optional: Relax in one of Budapest Thermal Baths. You can enjoy various pools with different temperatures, saunas, steam rooms, and even spa treatments. Popular options include the Szechenyi thermal baths, Gellert baths, and Rudas baths.  

  • Day 4: December 08 : Budapest - Bratislava - Vienna

    Breakfast in hotel, check out and departure to Vienna. Stop for visit Bratislava – the capital of Slovakia. You will have some free time to explore Bratislava Christmas Market and before continue our tour to Vienna.

    Arrival in Vienna in the afternoon and hotel check in. Evening at leisure to walk through Vienna city centre festively decorated with thousands Christmas lights. Overnight in Vienna.

  • Day 5 : December 09 : Vienna city tour and Christmas Markets Vienna

    After breakfast your local guide will pick you up at the hotel for your first experience in Vienna. Walking tour of Vienna  City centre include visit to most important sights such as:  St. Stephen’s cathedral, Graben street, Kohlmarkt, Opera, Hofburg palace. After the tour, time at your leisure to enjoy the festive Advent atmosphere in Vienna and  its famous Christmas markets.

    Visit the biggest and the oldest Christmas Market of Vienna in front of Vienna City Hall. Enjoy in live music, tastefully lit trees, holiday arts and crafts and Viennese culinary delicacies. Shop for traditional Christmas tree decorations and souvenirs, or just enjoy the festive atmosphere and join the locals to taste a  mug of mulled wine and some roasted chestnuts. Overnight in hotel in Vienna.

    Evening in Vienna – optional: attend performance of the famous Lipizzaner horses at the Spanish Riding School, classical concert or opera.

  • Day 6: December 10: Vienna Schonbrunn Palace and Christmas Market

    After breakfast departure to Schonbrunn Palace.

    Enjoy visit to Schonbrunn Palace and explore the Vienna’s most scenic  Christmas Market in front of the Palace. With daily concerts, the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread in the air, and the beautiful Christmas tree to admire, you can’t help being in a festive mood.

    Afternoon at leisure to explore city on your own or shopping. Buy yourself something wonderful like a piece of Augarten porcelain or a piece of crystal at world famous Swarovski. Overnight in hotel in Vienna.

    Evening in Vienna – optional: attend classic music concert or performance in Opera.

  • Day 7: December 11 : Viena - Brno - Prague

    After breakfast check out and departure to Prague. Travelling to Prague we will make stop for visiting Brno, one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval towns in Europe and home to many historical sites : Old Town Hall, Spilberk Castle and St. James Church. Before continue our tour to Prague, you will have some time on leisure to explore Brno Christmas Market.

    Arrival in Prague in late afternoon and free evening to enjoy a traditional Czech meal accompanied by a local beer. Overnight in hotel in Prague.

  • Day 8: December 12: Prague city tour and Prague Christmas markets

    After breakfast in hotel discover why Prague is known as the City of One Hundred Spires on a Prague guided tour. Walk through medieval cobbled streets around the historic Prague Old Town and learn some historical, architectural and hidden nuances that most travellers never heard about. City tour ends at the Prague Old Town Square. Free time for enjoy the festive atmosphere at Prague Christmas Market, set in the heart of Prague. Overnight in hotel in Prague.

  • Day 9 : December 13: Prague Castle tour and Christmas Markets

    After breakfast, we  visit Prague Castle – the largest ancient castle in the world. Walk through the historical palaces and churches to the greatest architectural treasure – St. Vitus Cathedral. Admire the stunning view over the city’s  rooftops, towers, and golden spires. Afternoon at leisure in Prague. Farewell Dinner in typical Czech restaurant.

  • Day 10 - December 14: Prague departure

    After breakfast we will transfer you to the Prague International airport where, sadly, it’s time to say our goodbyes .

    After breakfast in hotel we start guided tour of Berlin. The tour covers famous Berlin attractions, the most influential historical sights and delves into stories of past wars, triumphs and tragedies. Discover Berlin’s history from its humble beginnings as a small fishing village to the strength of the Prussian Empire, through the dark Nazi era and freedom from Soviet Rule.

    This afternoon we visit the Christmas Market at Charlottenburg Palace, one of the most famous Christmas markets in Berlin.

  • Day 3: December 16: Berlin – Potsdam – Berlin

    After breakfast departure to  Potsdam, one of Germany’s most beautiful World Heritage sites. Here we will visit the enchanting palace of Sanssouci set amongst glorious parks. See the Concert Hall, quirkily decorated with vines and grapes, the library with a gilded sunburst ceiling and the elegant white and gold Marble Room modelled after the Pantheon in Rome. Return in Berlin and time at leisure for independent sightseeing or to explore Berlin’s numerous Christmas markets.
